Towards Energy & Environmental Justice through Public Science

With a focus on energy policy, urban forestry, climate & environmental justice, my work is dedicated to empowering communities and emerging researchers.

Expanding the classroom through Public Science

My teaching extends beyond the walls of university classrooms and into communities. This includes workshops and training sessions at public libraries, with NGO partners and at field sites.

Trees for healing communities

Healthy urban forests are essential to local & global environmental health. My community forestry work trains residents about the necessity of trees in combating extreme heat, flooding, wastewater and pollution, as well as providing essential recreational services. I also believe in putting shovels in the ground.

It’s essential that we unlearn power. This includes not only rethinking our energy systems, but also social structures that marginalize people and place while exacerbating environmental threats.
